Elizabeth- As I am a lay breastfeeding counselor, I have many favorites that
are not medically written and easy for the lay person to understand. My
favorite is The Breastfeeding Answer Book by LLL but that may not be the best
book for just anyone to read. It is written more from the stand-point of a
counselor talking to a mom. Another favorite is The Nursing Mothers Companion
by Kathleen Huggins and The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding again by LLL.

As for the non-sleeping 4 month old...my sympathies. They sure can get cranky
can't they? Have you tried carrying her in a sling? My experience has been
that being close to mom and the motions she makes settles the bqaby down and
they fall asleep easier. One more thing...where are you located? It seems
there is a person located here in Portland and I would be very interested in
talking with that person. My e-mail is [log in to unmask]
