I sat with tears in my eyes tonite, while watching the news account of the
tragic events in Littleton. Your thoughts immediately go to the families and
parents of the children/young adults murdered today in their school. School
is supposed to be the safe place you go to when you leave your parent's home.
It is hard to let our children go out in the world, but you trust the safe
haven of a school. What has happened to our society, that children and
parents must fear for their lives when they leave in the morning? I realize
this forum may not be the place to air these thoughts and feeling, but as
perinatal nurses, we hold sacred the blessed bond of the parent and child.
My prayers go to those parents who lost their children.
