"Well, at least I figured out how to spell it. The mom is stabilizing but taking the following medications. Are any of these contraindicated for breastfeeding? Dopamine Morphine Dobutamine Cefoxitin Hepron Zantac" The two that concern me are Dopamine and Dobutamine. They inhibit prolactin but have such a short half-life that I would think once she is off of the drugs (probably when she is out of ICU), inhibition of prolactin won't we a problem. I've only worked with 3 or 4 of these patients in the past 10 years. She is going to need some intensive support in the inpatient setting to start pumping once she is out of ICU. Glad you are able to help her!
