To all, Need sleep desperately right now after a 12 hour shift, so please excuse my laziness for not looking this up myself. I seem to recall reading or hearing at a conference that the peptide theory of milk production regulation had been either disproven or at least down-graded in its importance in autocrine regulation???? Also, regardless of a woman's capacity to store milk, it would seem to me that the frequency of feeding would be largely regulated by how much milk the baby is comfortable taking in at one time. I would imagine that if a mom did not produce the "average" amount of milk at each feeding then her baby would feed more often in order to get the necessary amount in a 24 hour period. Babies that are comfortable with a distended belly paired with mothers who store milk well would probably eat much less frequently each day. Am I missing something here? Maybe I should have read today's posts after sleeping. Is this another sign of Lactnet addiction?
