I work at the local high school in the teen parent and childcare program. I speak to the teens about breastfeeding. I also actively help those who chose to breastfeed at the hospital, at home, and once they return to school. Today I got great news ... We're getting the use of a hospital grade pump at the teen parent program! This past fall I approached the local hospital for the use of a hospital grade pump and they have agreed (with the help of our local Medela rep) to place a pump at school for the teen moms to use. I am hoping this will help make it easier for the moms to continue to BF while returning to school with their children (placed in the childcare program on campus). In a few days I will be meeting with the hospital to line out the particulars. Can you think of any issues I may need to keep in mind? The hospital already gives all moms a Medela hand pumping kit so each teen will have her own kit to start with. Anything else (mundane or not) we may need? Thanks in advance for your consideration. -- Monique Noah Reilly Schaefers 6/18/97 [log in to unmask]
