I am helping a friend who is a Registered Nurse and a lactating mom gather information for her and her Endocrinologist. Mom has chronic hypertension which had been treated with success with Parlodel . But this was stopped during her pregnancy. She had been unable to conceive until on this medication. Her hypertension is related to increased prolaction levels. Mom is currently on Trandate, but this has not been decreasing her pressure. Her questions to the group are: Have any of you treated moms with this type of hypertension? What drugs have been used in moms who are lactating to bring blood pressure down, without affecting lactation? I have given her information from Medications and Mother's Milk. Thank-you, Thomas Hale. I was pleased to hear that she has a Breastfeeding Friendly Pediatrician. Who has told her she can breastfed and take medication. And her Endocrinologist is asking for help with treatment for her, he was excited to hear about this discussion group for Lactation. Any help would be appreciated. Please reply to me directly.
