The following is a msg I received via my web site from a lady named Laura that is writing a book on breastfeeding. She would like to include some breastfeeding stories, if you have a breastfeeding story to tell please read on, if not hit the delete key. Please feel free to pass this on to individuals or groups that you think may be interested. __________ My book is geared toward first time mothers-to-be who are leaning toward bf but may need just a little more information to make the decision. The nine chapters of my book, which is still untitled at this point, include basic and statistical information on each subject along with mothers' stories that pertain to each subject. They are: 1. Breastfeeding and YOU (why women choose to bf, how bf changes your body image and mental outlook, your exposure to other bf moms) 2. BF and your baby (falling in love, the nursing couple, nursing toddler) 3. BF and husbands (how dads feel about bf) 4. BF and your older kids (feelings of displacement, including siblings in baby's care, tandem nursing) 5. BF and your parents/inlaws (how views of bf have changed over the years, handling unwanted advice) 6. BF and your friends (handling comments from pro-BF and non-pro-BF moms, handling comments from friends who are not mothers, support groups, building a network) 7. BF and your co-workers (pumping at work, loss of privacy, dressing for pumping, shifting priorities) 8. BF and strangers (nursing in public -- laws about bf in public, finding a private place, perfecting your technique, how to handle negative comments) 9. Carrying on the tradition of bf (long-term benefits, teaching our daughters to bf) This is a working outline, so as I write it will change, I'm sure. Let me tell you about myself. I am now a SAHM after being "downsized" at the Savannah, Ga., hospital where I was an account manager in the marketing department for 4-1/2 years. I've been writing professionally since high school and my nonfiction has been published in newspapers and magazines across the country. While I'm home with my children, I am freelance writing for a business newspaper in Savannah and picking up other projects along the way. I really hope to get my book written and submitted to publishers before the end of the year. I hope this helps explain a little better what I hope to accomplish with this book. I would welcome any stories from your web site visitors -- similar to the stories you currently have on your site -- although I would never use those without permission from you and the moms who wrote them. They are wonderful! If the moms who participate would like to be identified, they should include their email address, name, city and state. When I get a publisher I can let them know when it will be in bookstores (yes, I'm very optimistic!). Thanks, again. I hope to hear from you soon.
