I read the following note with interest. It is polite to write your location on your e-mail signature. Americans are not, in my experience, more adept at using the Net or anything else for that matter, and I can say that since I am American. However, this forum is open, and we welcome people from all over the world who wish to discuss issues of lactation. And, many Americans, in their ethnocentric cloud, do not know their geography. So, please, let us welcome all subscribers on Lactnet who are here to discuss and support breastfeeding throughout the world, wherever they may be. And do put your location in your signature. I can get my map out if you are in a place that I am not familiar with. Good for me to learn more. Peace. Kathleen "1. COUNTRY and general geographic location. USA is USA and the measures we used or the expressions we use are all the same from New York to San Francisco. I don't see why I should bother write my State. When someone write "mums" instead of "moms" or" mother" I know they are not american. I know this is an international forum, just happens that we are more willing to use the Net more often, we like to talk (ah c'est ca notre peche!!)(pronounce paychay) I do agree that some people just talk and talk to say nothing, Also, no offense, but we americans also know our overseas geography. I also get disconcerted when non american dictate how we, american, are supposed to abide by your rules. I am answering to his because this is not the first time that some french or english person complain. Sorry!!!" Kathleen B. Bruce, BSN, IBCLC co-owner Lactnet,TLC, Indep.
