Anne, Hope this isn't too far after the thread. My server was down! My first thought after reading your description was that the soreness started probably close to the intro of solids. I have worked with moms in the past who have had soreness simply from food residue in baby's mouth..not necessarily any one food. I encourage moms to nurse before giving solids if possible (emphasizing solids as the 'supplement' to the most important nutrient) and/or to rinse/wipe baby's mouth with water after feedings solids. Many HCPs encourage moms to offer solids first when mom complains that baby isn't interested in the solids (more common if offered too early). Hope this helps and not a dermatological problem.
