Hi all, At work last week, I was in charge of the nursery. One of the babies was two days old, staying a third night because of feeding difficulty. She was spitting up a lot. I suggested to this 20 yo mother, when she returned from dinner, that she could try breastfeeding. " Would that be better?"she asked. I said yes. She said over and over again she wanted to do what was best for her baby. I assured her that breast was best. She said she would think about it before next feeding time. Around ten P.M. she said she wanted to try. I helped her get the baby nursing and God love this baby she got on and nursed beautifully for 20 minutes. I saw this mom look down lovingly at her daughter saying "She likes this!" Then I was off for the weekend. The night nurse said she came into the nursery at 1230 and said "I don't want to do this" Apparently the baby had been nursing a long time and was not satisfied. (this mom had PIH, lots of IV fliud and had not nursed for two days) So instead of using the SNS("she couldn't handle that") they had her back to bottle feeding and she was discharge home. I am so depressed about this. Do I really look thru "breastcolored "glasses or did I really see that loving expression?? Thanks for the vent Jane _____________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
