I just heard about a friend whose young-adult son broke his leg. It made me ponder yet again something I've wondered about: We've never had an emergency room accident visit with our boys (now 18 and 15). They've never broken a bone, had stitches, gotten a stick in the eye. Are they cautious kids, or lucky, or are their breastfed reflexes responsible in part? I'd love to see a study of accident rates among the breastfed and formula-fed, from falling off the couch as toddlers to crashing cars as adults. Any comments? Diane Wiessinger, MS, IBCLC, LLLL Ithaca, NY, back from a week in the mountains w/ her 15 yr old and 2 of his friends, w/ nothing to do but sleep in, canoe, play games, eat pizza, and finish *8* back issues of JHL. Nice life! Someone please remind me why I came home.
