Debi brings up an interesting point, that I as a non-LC, but another
professional, think is very important. If you want to be a professional,
then there must be an oversight/disciplinary board. Doctors, lawyers,
etc. are subject to them. Additionally, many professions actively
pursue those who are unlicensed. For example, the person giving legal
advice *for money* will be subject to sanctions and even criminal
charges. I'm not saying this should be done regarding LCs (although I
wish a local non-certified LC couldn't practice), but it is something to
think about esp. if board-certified LCs become subject to disciplinary
boards and other LCs are not.

The negative side of this though is whether people really want to push
people like Jay and Anne out, who have helped countless mothers, and
really know about BF, whereas there are board-certified LCs who don't
know half as much. I'll leave that to those who are members of the
profession to debate.
