Dear friends, Ted Greiner has added three new papers to his website that are likely to be of interest to an even wider audience than the sixteen papers previously available. The first is revised from a paper he published in the Journal of Human Lactation called * The Concept of Weaning: Definitions and their Implications It points out how communication in the field of infant feeding is hampered by the fact that the word "wean" has so many different meanings. Indeed, we have failed even to realize the need to differentiate food given to complement breast milk from given to replace it, one possible reason for our failure to find solutions to the problem of malnutrition. The other two papers come from Ted's presentations at the recent WABA workshop on Women, Work and Breastfeeding: Human Rights and Creative Solutions. The first one reminds us of some of th key issues that must be kept in mind when we work on this issue, and is entitled * Breastfeeding and Women's Work: Human Rights and Long-term Solutions Finally, a paper many of us have been waiting for (too long--maybe due to the lack of men working professionally on this issue): * How can we increase the father's involvement in child care? It presents ideas and points of view from a man whose personal and professional experience can help provide guidance to many of us who find ourselves negotiating on a wide range of issues related to the division of labor within the modern family.
