Thanks for the posts on the new ear infection vaccine. I'd appreciate learning about the costs for administering this vaccine in your areas: # treatments/office visits required, whether the vaccine is covered under health plans, costs for the vaccine (by itself as well as included in the office visit). I believe I read a while back that it takes 3 shots (but I may be thinking of the rotavirus or RSV vaccines, similar cases in point). As we all prepare for World Breastfeeding Week 1998, "Breastfeeding: The Best Investment", it will be helpful in our promotional/advocacy efforts to have this kind of information to compare with the costs of "vaccinating" through breastfeeding. Data like this can help economists and "bottom-liners" reconsider their money allocations and maybe be willing to invest in supporting breastfeeding rather than these costly (and well-marketed) protection strategies. I look forward to hearing from you. Please email me your information privately; I will compile and post to Lactnet later. Thanks! --Doraine Bailey ILCA WBW Coordinator WBW 1998: "Breastfeeding: The Best Investment" ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
