Kathleen, >To my knowledge, Fenugreek is not to be used in mothers with a history of >asthma, and it also has potential to alter diabetic metabolism/glucose >uptake, insulin needs. I'd like to see your sources on that, as a severely asthmatic mother myself (not that I've ever felt the need to take anything to increase my milk supply, personally!). My concern would be the fennugreek is one of the few remedies many women can actually get hold of to rapidly increase their milk supply. Maybe the effects are largely psychosomatic (I don't know), but it would be such a shame if women with asthma could not use it, particularly since IMHO, it is absolutely vital for babies of allergic mothers to breastfeed. Asthma accounts for 1 in 7 people in Britain and I know the rates are very high in other countries too. -- Anna (Mummy to Emma, born 17th Jan 1995, Alice, born 11th Sept 1996, ??? due 18th April 1998) Email: [log in to unmask] Web Page: http://www.ratbag.demon.co.uk/anna
