Hello fellow lactnuts, I just got home from work and a discussion of sorts with our Enterostomal Therapy Nurse who had a baby 6 weeks ago. I asked about her little one and she said, "Oh he's fine! I didn't breastfeed because I though it was what made my older child so fretful. So now that this little one is on Nut------n, he is doing ok. Oh and did I tell you that he is on Zantac too? Now he is feeling much better." All this said with a big smile. AAAUUUURRGGHH! I wanted to scream, and if he'd been breastfed, he wouldn't need a predigested formula and an anti-acid medication!! But, I just calmly made more small talk, all the while trying not to bite my tongue too hard. Sometimes you just have to shake your head and wonder what is in some peoples heads. Thanks for listening. P.S. She asked while pregnant what formula I recommended, at lunch one day and I almost choked while asking why she wanted to know. When she offered her tale of woe with her son and his colic, I suggessted that breastmilk would be the easiest to digest. She nods and says that didn't work with her son, because after nursing a week, he was still fussy and so she started on the rounds of formula finally ending up with Pre-------l. I guess I should have been prepared!! Mary Alice Tinari, MSN, IBCLC Huntingdon Valley, PA
