RE: Methylprednisolone
The amount that an infant would ingest in a day on average is 0.5%. Data from a
patient suggests that the risk to the infant is low based on the quantity of the
drug that passes into milk is small.
A general recommendation is that it is best to dose the drug at less than
8mg/day, but with this short-term, descending dosing schedule, there should be
no need for any weaning.
As for the Percocet, I do not understand what is bad for the baby when the
mother takes Percocet and methylprednisolone. In addition, why is Percocet
prescribed so often for nursing mothers when plain Tylenol or possibly Tylenol
with Codeine would be a much better choice if an analgesic is needed?
