Thanks to all who are answering on this publicly and privately. When the
couple took the baby back to the IBCLC she suggested they use the
supplementer at breast instead of finger feeding. Mom was not at all keen
but LC convinced her this was the way to go, and it seems to be working tho
they are now doing all feeds with supplementer and wonder how they will
wean baby from it. However they are so relieved not to have a screaming
baby at feeds that they are happy for the moment.
Does this mean, I ask myself, that the baby was frustrated at the
uneven-ness of BF? Quick let down sometimes, not at others? Low milk supply
some time of the day? I am interested to see if this continues to be
successful, and how we will wean from the supplementer!
