Just a reminder to those who are working "on the run" and don't get to read all the posts - we're all so busy! After coming accross two extraordinary women I have learned from them NOT to tell them they have to stop breastfeeding but how long they may need to pump so that they can return to breastfeeding (or pumping and giving their babies their own mother's milk). Both these women had reasons why they were unable to feed their babies early on (one an NICU very ill baby for a long time unable to eat anything by mouth - then unwilling to go to the breast, the other a mom had radioactive implants to destroy her thyroid due to cancer). Both continued, when able to, to pump and feed their babies their milk for over 12 months. In other words - some women (like one this week) think that feeding their babies at night is "too much sacrifice" and give up breastfeeding - others will continue long after many of us would give up. So - we give them the information and let them decide what they want to do and what is their level of tolerance/dedication/sacrifice - we educate, accept and support.
