Hi All,
Regarding this 5 wk old baby and his/her mom with sore nipples. First
thought: Yeast?
Second thought: Growth spurt?
Why the 2nd thought? When PJ hit about 5 wks what had previously been a
pain free wonderful relationship suddenly became rather sore. No cracks or
bleeding, just sore. He started BF constantly and would squirm and not
latch quite right, and I was constantly re-latching to get a better latch.
After a couple of days, he settled down and the BF went back to normal. I
noticed, to my surprise that he was suddenly able to take in more areolar
tissue! His mouth had obviously grown and changed his latch just enough to
make me sore. ALl he needed was a bit of time to get used to the change
himself, which he did. (he also grew out of all his 3 mo clothes at that
time as well! Grew 1in in 3 days!) So maybe this is what this baby is
doing as well.
Just a thought...Let us know how it turns out!

PS PJ, at 5.5 mo can go from sitting to hands and knees, then back to
sitting, can move around the room in a hands & knees rock and lunge movement
(tries to crawl but hasn't got the hand/knee coordination down quite right
yet), and is now pulling to standing! ANd boy can this kid bounce! A real
bouncing baby boy! Talk about not waiting...he desperately tries to follow
his brothers around the room. No one told me he'd be doing this kind of
stuff this early! My mom is betting he walks by 7 mo. We'll see! My
oldest walked at 8.5 mo, so maybe PJ will take after big brother!
