Vermox (mebendazole) is listed in both Hale and Briggs. I would go with their information as the basis of decision to breastfeed while taking this medication. Side-effects are listed for possible systemic adverse effects for the ophthalmic preparation of Alomide (lodoxamide). These are headache, heat sensation, dizziness, somnolence, nausea, stomach discomfort, sneezing, dry nose, rash. Some of these effects could be monitored in the infant. The amount the infant would probably get through use of this opthalmic product should be minimal and not enough to cause any adverse effects. In any case, if this product has been prescribed for seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, safer alternative preparations are available.
