Hi all, The following is part of a letter I got from my sister today. Baby Kyle is only 3 months old and I feel so sad that she is willing to give up so easily. It seems that she feels that formula is good enough! I sent her ILCA's Hazards of Infant Formula when she was pg. Any words of wisdom?-Jane in Southern N.H. Kyle has started to refuse the breast. I am sure there is all sorts of stuff I could do to avoid this, but I am going to let Kyle dictate this one. I have to work and if he is happier with a bottle and formula, so be it. I will try to hang in there for as long as possible but am not going to make the both of us miserable! Regarding the formula companies, yes they are marketing geniuses. Any time I buy Symilac (who send me $3 or $5 coupons every other week), I get a coupon for a free can of Carnation. They must have something going on with the Safeway. I don't think the hospitals make a profit on formula, but yes the formula companies do..this is America Jane...they are suppose to. How about how many lives formula has saved? If I got hit by a bus and there was no formula what would Kyle do? Starve? You make it sound as if these companies are like the tobacco firms! There is no question that breastfeeding is best (pick up this week's Newsweek, it has an article about how breastfed babys have higher IQs), but it is not for everyone. So that's what I think!
