Last week I asked if anyone had any information on improving breastfeeding rates in a low income area. My thanks to those who referred me to the WIC programs. My particular area of interest lies with reducing the structural barriers to breastfeeding. I understand that Health Canada have done some work on this. Can anyone help me with this? I'd really appreciate it. If you know of any programs that have reducued these barriers I'd be delighted to hear from you. By reducing structural barriers I mean such things as making it easier to breastfeed out of the home (and we have had several posts on legislation in this area), being able to combine work outside the home with breastfeeding, getting the right support for successful breastfeeding - thus making the decision to breastfeed an easier choice.
