Her MD also told her he won't do the repair work until the baby (now 7 + months) has weaned because she won't heal until she is no longer nursing. References, please, either for or against this MD's position? >> ARGHHHH!! Give me a break! I can't stand it!! I'm DEFINITELY going to open a book store, and I will REFUSE to carry any books on breastfeeding!!!! Surely surely surely there cannot be physicians out there that REALLY believe this! "Oh, I'm sorry. You had to have a C/Section. You will have to postpone breastfeeding until the incision site is completely healed because bf intereferes with healing." "Oh, pardon me, ma'am. You can't breastfeed. You had an episiotomy." "No episiotomy? No C/Section? Well lady, YOU can't breastfeed because the placental site has to heal, and breastfeeding intereferes with healing!!!!" Funny how one of the jobs of the LC at our hospital is to make sure the moms that have to come in for surgery are provided with a pump and are given -- in some cases -- opportunity to breastfeed as soon as they wake up from the anesthesia. haven't heard (of course, this is only anecdotal) of ANY lack of healing because of this. "Geeze lady, I'm sorry you need an emergency appendectomy, but since you are breastfeeding, we'll have to postpone surgery until you have completely weaned and your hormones are back to "normal." Hope you don't die between now and then." This is it guys, I can't STAND it! Jan -- whose button got pushed maybe even more than Jack's did! And who will definitely be opening a book store in the next few minutes.
