Chris--

Thanks for your affirmation. Most of my colleagues who know me well know
how long I nursed. I've been active in the American Academy of Family
Physicians; anyone who has attended a meeting with me before my son was
about 3 knows I nursed that long as he was always along, and visited me
for "nursing breaks", usually in the meeting room.

At the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine meeting last fall, a Dr. from
Chicago presented some unpublished info that she had gathered from a
survey of professional women (mostly MD's and RN's) who had attended the
LLL seminar for physicians, and showed that they nursed a long time--by
society's standards, anyway--and that the commitment was more important
than the employment. (Part-time work was more conducive to extended
breastfeeding, however, which was my experience.) I hope she publishes
this info!
