Hi, Lactnetters, I need a little help with this idea: we now have an electric pump at the WIC office, and moms can use the pump while at WIC, they keep the tubing so they can come back and use it again, plus they get an accessory part that allows them to use the pump at home as a manual pump. Having the pump in the office is a big help in breastfeeding promo in lots of ways... I thought that a cute promotional idea would be to list the amount of ounces pumped to date, sort of like 20 billion served, or something like that. What do you think would be a good graphic to use? Obviously, I wouldn't want to use a baby bottle! I drew a pretty flask of some kind, but I thought I would turn to you, and see if you had any other ideas. What I thought of doing was to draw in a line every time a mom used the pump and write in the amount of ounces with her initials and the date. Maybe have a big date at the top SO FAR with the date...we have a locked bulletin board that we can use for posters, notices etc. and I'd like to keep it in there. Please send me your ideas!Guess what-we've had LOTS of ounces pumped-one mom got 10 ounces!!! (she had left her two month old at home and was feeling engorged! I'll say!!)Another mom got six ounces from one breast, the milk she could express from the first breast barely covered the bottom of the bottle, but the other breast which always produces more went to six ounces. The mom who got 10 ounces-we used the four ounce baby bottle and then pumped right into a freezer bag! And guess what-breast milk does NOT look like skim milk! I hate it when booklets describe mother's milk as "bluish". Yuk. TIA Pearl Shifer, IBCLC
