Dear Willow, The loosening you describe is due to an enzyme released during pregnancy called hyaluronidase. I don't know how long it would continue to be released after the birth as it is there to loosen cartilage for the birth. I have had mothers who have had a hip put out from birth especially from a posterior baby who works the area while turning. Postpartum massage and Chiropractic adjustments have elliminated the problem without having to use drugs that might not be conducive to breastfeeding. Hey something I really know about!! : ) Stephanie Ehlert, AAHCC Jacksonville, FL .
