Joyce M, Your concerns are certainly understandable. For the most part tho, parents do the best they can with the information, resources, and support they have. You can give all the right info and support at a given time, but some moms would need you or someone equally supportive and knowledgable, to be at their side 24 hrs a day in order to be successful with breastfeeding. Some parents seek advice until they hear what sounds right for them, *or* until they hear it in a way that makes sense to them, *or* until they've heard the same advice enough that they are convinced and satisfied with the answers. Working peds for years, and having children of my own, taught me that mothers and fathers seeking reassurance or second and other opinions is a normal part of parenting. I see it as an admirable trait because it indicates concern for the well-being of their children. It is a compliment to you that you are the one that is often sought out for reassurance and a second opinion. -Deborah Tobin
