I just checked my back issues of Veg. Times and in the August 1995 issue page 18 there is an article on Blue-Green Algae. It refers specifically to algae from Klamath Lake, produced by Cell Tech( which is described as the largest supplier), and it questions 'Lake Klamath's water quality and the methods for testing the algae'. A Dr. Stager is quoted in the article as stating that ' the blue- green algae found in Klamath Lake contains Aphanizomenon flos-aquae'. According to an FDA report 'Aphanizomenon flos-aquae hsa been found to produce a toxin that is a powerful neuromuscular blocking agent.'Another aquatic ecologist said'...the water is being infused with agricultural runoff' all in all it was not a positive article. Does anybody have something (besides promos from the company) more recent? Meredith [log in to unmask]
