Hi everyone,
I am Angela Burton, an LLLL. I currently live in Bitburg, Germany. I'm
finding the technical and not so technical threads here on Lactnet very
interesting to follow. Since I am a fairly new subscriber, my question may
have been addressed before. If so apologies for the repetition.

For those of you who have had success using nipple shields for bringing out
inverted nipples:
1. What are your criteria for their use.

2.How often and for how long does follow-up occur/continue.

3.How do you suggest handling transition to the breast, especially when
baby is extremely recalcitrant?

Some background; we have a mix of American and english speaking women of
other nationalities (mainly German) in our community and LLL group. In the
past 12 months or so we have had 3 moms in our group using nipple shields
on medical advice who have not been able to make the transition to the
breast. Since I have no experience of successful use of these shields and
continued bf, it is difficult for me to be positive about their use,
however if they could really help a mom bf, I would hate to discourage her
from trying them.
We do not have access to an LC in our area, so my co-leader and I tend to
be called in this kind of situation.

Posts to the list or e-mail to me privately at [log in to unmask] would be
very much appreciated
TIA
Angela Burton
