Nofia- Your comment on the hand pump and the inverted nipple reminded me of what happened to one of the moms who is now bf her third baby very well. She said with the first baby she bought a pump as she had inverted nipples and didn't know LLL or anyone else to help. She didn't read the directions before attaching the battery-powered continuous suction pump. Turned it on, put it on the breast, and watched it suck and suck and suck.... By the time she figured out she was supposed to DO something to make it cycle, it had pulled out her inverted nipple and she latched her baby on just fine. (Not something we recommend - but it worked for her!) Jeanette Panchula, BSW, LLLL, IBCLC, RN Puerto Rico
