At the joint NYLCA-LILCA meeting this summer, two of the members told the
group about their experiences as breastfeeding moms who were
hospitalized.
Both had complete faith in their ability to go back home and breastfeed,
and they did! They found that in the hospital their milk supply was
down, but when they got home, it went back up without a problem.
These women felt that their bodies were very wise, and conserved energy
in the hospital by cutting back on milk production, but upon the joyful
reunion back home with baby, the milk supply rebounded.
We were all inspired and grateful that these mothers shared their personal experience (I remember that one is a NICU nurse herself...)
A good and sweet New Year to all who are celebrating Rosh Hashanah.
