On another (midwives) list there has been discussions about whether sensitization to an allergen can induced inutereo by the pregnant mother's over-consumption of said allergen, especially cow's milk. La Leche League's Womanly Art Of BF states that this CAN happen, but there is no references to data to support it. Does anyone know of any studies connecting sensitization during pregnancy, (not through breast milk)? Can anyone give me any tips on how to find out whether this is simply a theory, accepted over the years as fact, or if indeed, there is data to support this. Though we often get off on tangents about cow's milk being inappropriate for infants, it remains an important source of both protein and calcium for many pregnant women. Valeri Webber
