Hi. I'm wondering if any of you wonderful resource people have worked with surgical teams who are planning guidelines for such breastfeeding-related issues as: length of time breastfed babies "need" to be NPO before and after various types of procedures, and use of breastmilk as a first oral fluid after surgery, etc. I'm currently talking to a number of nurses and mothers who have lots of common-sense sorts of answers to these questions but we're curious about whether others have come up with helpful quidelines and whether you can steer us toward recent research ? Looking forward to hearing your ideas/experiences. Thanks Maureen White RN MN IBCLC Halifax, NS.
