Hi All, Well, at 7:00am this morning I got a call from "Tina". After 3 hrs of sleep, taking a trip to the hosp to pump because her nipples are in so much pain, she called to apologize for last night, and ask for help. No problem. I told her not to worry, don't bother apologizing, what can I do? She asked for a pump and to see our WIC LC, ASAP. Done, I told her. What questions do you have about pumping and treatment of your nipples? I ask. She said, "Tell me what I need to do." So I did. She will be doing everything I suggested, and will be calling for more info as needed, or help or whatever. So, thanks goodness she is going to accept my help now, before her nipples and her baby end up in a whole lot of trouble! Any advice here? Baby WILL NOT tolerate ABM. She spits it up almost as soon as it enters her body. Mom has only about 1-1.5 oz of pumped colostrom. As soon as mom gets the pump she will be using at least every two hours for the next 24hrs. (I told her to follow the baby at night as long as baby doesn't sleep for more that 3-4 hrs) But she is going to go every 2 hrs to make sure that baby gets a lot of food in her since she hasn't gotten much (from a really bad latch) since day 1. Baby is now on day 2. Anything specific I should watch for? I know this sounds stupid, but send me the basics folks. Everything youcan think of. I have gotten so little sleep these last few days, my brain is on overload, and isn't working very well. I don;t want to take the chance of missing something important here. This mom really needs to be treated with kid gloves, you know? Thank you so much, everyone! Jay Sleepy, but glad that mom reached out for help.
