Howdy Netters, It was fun reading the posts about Tegretol and actually relating to the drug. It is used for seizures but also as an antidepressant. I have been taking it for 5yrs for prevention of seizures (get to stop soon since the brain surgery took care of the seizures). I am on 600mg-800mg per day and can not immagine how the lady on 2000mg/day could stay awake. Anyway, years ago when I ran a hospital based LC program here in Chicago area, I negotiated to get payed on contractural basis. I occasionally worked as a staff RN and got that pay rate. How I came up with the LC rate was to take my RN pay and figured in what the benefits would equal and added it on. It was rather nice as long as you can get benefits elsewhere-ie husband. I know that the hospital also looked at what other consultants were making ie. nutritionists, diabetic consultants, etc. Someone was asking about Georgetown's "Alternative Feeding Methods for Breastfed Babies" self learning module by Vergie Hughes, RN, IBCLC. Copies may be obtained through The National Capital Lactation Center at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC 20007. Pat Bull, RN, IBCLC The Breastfeeding Connection/Medela, Inc.
