I am concerned that we are falling for the old ploy of having to BUY something in order to keep baby happy. Why would a breastfeeding baby NOT spit the darn things out? Do adults routinely taste them? Most taste and feel awful. If I were a breastfeeding baby, I would definitely prefer the much nicer breast (though I have never tasted one--I was a bottle-fed baby, you see). We need to be careful about suggesting to manufacturers that breastfed babies NEED something originally designed for bottle-fed babies. This simply lets them continue to sell the adult world on the notion that breastfeeding is not enough, will not satisfy, is really just a modified version of bottle-feeding and the like. Climbing down that soapbox, which was getting pretty high... Def. of LC service: "We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations." Kathleen G.
