Here's two books my boys have been reading in which the authors mention breastfeeding (in a normal natural way!): Knitwits by William Taylor ages 9-13 "Alice Pepper is going to build our baby a tree house. 'She'll need somwhere to get away from you, and she and me can have our talks up there....That treehouse is just for the baby and me....' 'You'll have to let mum up,' I said. 'Unless you can breast-feed a baby, Alice Pepper, and I know you can't do that because you haven't got any boobs.'" Jacob Have I Loved by Katherine Paterson (winner of the Newberry Medal for the most distinguished contribution to American Literature for Children) ages 10 and up "I...held her mouth to catch the milk, which began to flow of its own accord. A perfect tongue, smaller than a newborn kitten's, reached out for the drops of milk on her lips. Then the little mouth rooted against my breast until she had found the nipple for herself." They enjoyed the books, now I'm reading them! Would it be appropriate to have my kids write a book report for Lactnet? Pearl Shifer, IBCLC, LLLL
