Hello Breastfeeding Advocates! An invitation to one and all, especially those within driving distance of Washington DC...An event is happening and you may want to be a part of it. Stand for Children is a "national day of commitment to children. A non-partisan call to action....A day for Americans of every race, age, region, income and faith to unite in Washington DC as a national community in support of children. A day to affirm what unites us rather than what divides us: a desire to raise healthy, educated and moral children." The statements come from the Stand for Children home page which can be found at http://www.stand.org. Some of the other facts found on the page are: Every 32 seconds...a baby is born into poverty Every 1 minute...a baby is born to a teen mother Every 2 minutes...a baby is born at low birth weight Every 3 minutes...a baby is born to a mother who received late or no prenatal care Every 15 minutes...a baby dies All of the above can be helped or eradicated with breastmilk/breastfeeding. This is a day when those in attendance and those watching should be aware that breastfeeding does make a difference. Breastfeeding advocates will be meeting at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Korean War Veterans Memorial. The memorial is to the south of the Lincoln Memorial, between the reflecting pool and Independence Avenue. We will assemble and walk to the event together. Many details are still in the planning stages. If you have any questions, please contact me at [log in to unmask] I look forward to seeing you ALL there!! Angela Love-Zaranka
