I know that Lactnet is not a place for advertisement and I am reluctant to bring this up, but over the last few months I have been developing a Windows 16 bit and 32 bit version of my Digest reader. I guess I look at this like selling T-shirt and books (NOT ABM), since this is for the benefit lactneters and the promotion of LC communications. I am not saying it is non-profit but I am asking $20 US for the software and as of right now that does not mean a profitable venture. I thank the people that have acted as guinny pigs for the development of this software. I am also asking AOL to include me in their developers program so that Digest reader can handle the digests directly from AOL. The attachments that are created by AOL actually help this software because the digests must be saved as files anyway. The software currently includes the following features. 1. Header size is no problem 2. Individual subjects can be printed directly from the reader 3. Subjects can be modified before saving to more closely match the actual content or selected subject categories such as Drugs, Sour Milk, Epidurals, or any other Subject you wish to make. I commend Kathleen Bruce in trying to offer the best service possible and that includes informing you about INDEXES. The problem is that the printed subjects are not always appropriate to the actual content, are not clear enough to determine if the content is something you want to review or may contain information in addition to the printed subject. I know that Beth would rather review all of the contents from one digest in hopes of not missing anything, than review the subjects, and then try to request the individual subjects from the server. 4.Identifies and converts multiple files created by downloading log files from lactnet through AOL. You may have noticed that if you download a large log(archive) file from the Lactnet that your file may be broken up into several files. This software provides a means to recombine these files into on large digest. 5. Selected subjects may be saved to your own archive file and the others discarded. This is simple since each subject is viewed on the screen as a separate entity. This also provides a quick means to skip over unwanted subjects. The subjects are listed in a list box so that you can jump directly to the selected subject. Once archived the file can be searched by character strings within the subject or body. 6. With MAPI compatible software such as Eudora Pro and Microsoft Exchange for Internet Mail or CompuServe Mail, the software can go directly to the InBox and retrieve only those e-mails with words like "LACTNET Digest" in the subject, delete them from the InBox if you wish, read all mail or only unread mail, and can even tell your e-mail program to retrieve new mail from the server. The other benefit is that you can respond to the Listserver or the Individual with the appropriate subject directly from the digest reader. AOL has reiterated that they have no intention in making there mail MAPI compatible, therefore the need for me to join AOL developers. Updates to the software are made free to those that purchase a copy and that will includes the AOL update when it occurs. 7. If you need to, individual subjects can be saved to a separate file for word processing or other purposes. Also entire subjects or selected text can be copied to the clipboard for use by other Windows programs. You can also build a clipboard full of subjects by using the clipboard plus feature. I apologize if anyone feels this is an invasion into LactNet's no advertising policy, but as I read the digests and see the problems that are common to my wife and other LactNetters, I think that this software will help. Thank you for your time, Roger, husband of Beth Vest
