This Dr. has done a very good job of differentiating between the rarer
condition of cranial synostosis and changes in head shape due to POSITIONAL
MOLDING. She goes on to describe that parents may have gone overboard with
postitioning a baby at sleep on the back in order to avoid SIDS and that
side-sleeping is also acceptable and reduces risk aw well. Just as
importantly she continues by reminding parents that babies should not be left
in their little plastic seats and car seats all day long as this too
contributes to positional molding of the head.

Since there seems to have been a lot more about cranial synostosis both on
Lactnet and LLLOL this was an excellent column to read.
