Hi Everyone! Just got my April edition of McCall's magazine and while I don't normally have time to sit down and look through it right away, I found myself wondering if Jane Seymour-shown on the cover with new twins-was breastfeeding her twins. Surprise!!Not only is she breastfeeding them but expressing milk for the nanny to give a bottle at night(if only we all had that luxury!)but she also nursed both of the twins right there in front of her interviewer.(Have you ever heard of such a thing? Nursing in front of someone else?) Anyway kudos to the nurse who talked her into it-apparently she has nursed before! I wonder if the nurse is on Lactnet with us? Anyway great light shed on breastfeeding. I also have just re-ordered my checks and chose a cute child pattern(very cherub in design-they must have been breastfed) and I used the quote "Breastfed babies are Healthier babies" These are my business checks, so the theme seem to fit. One quick note. A mom I've been working with-semi flat nipples-just spoke to her about her 3 1/2 week old. They were having a horrible time latching on. At 2 weeks baby was about 2 ozs. shy of birth weight. We were happy because it had been so rough and I had told mom that most BF babies didn't gain back to birth weight until 2 or 3 weeks. (I sent mom to an LC in the area for extra help/support) Talked to mom and she said at 3 week checkup(doctor wanted to see baby every week til he was satisfied) baby had gained 11ozs from week 2-week 3. Dr. felt ok but wants to see them next week to be sure(He wants baby to gain just as much next week) Mom's happy, baby's voiding well and is happy and getting big. Just a note-I'm really ready for Spring. Anyone else? Julie Miller, BC [log in to unmask]
