Hi everyone I've been a bit quiet lately as I got cut off of Lactnet (problems with my server :( ) Now, a question for you all. I have a client with a 6 month old baby who has recently had recurrent plugged ducts in one part of the breast. These are relieved after she has expressed hard granules from the affected ducts. This sounds like the corpora amylacea that Maureen Minchin described in February some time ?11th. What can this mother do?? She finds it hard to express all the granules every day, and would like to solve the problem. She went on a low fat, almost dairy free diet about 2 months ago, husband is diabetic so whole family on a 'diabetic' diet. No change in health etc. Baby has cut down on feeds recently (distractable/solids introduced). She is willing to increase feeds but wonders what will happen when baby eventually begins to wean. I have suggested lecithin in her diet. Any more ideas?? Fiona Coombes MBBS IBCLC Perth Western Australia
