I agree with Patricia and Louise  - I  would query an abscess. An ultrasound
would confirm this. If it is well localised her doctor may be able to drain
it by aspiration (needle and syringe) - may need to be repeated several
times, but less invasive then open drainage.
It is preferable not to perform mammograms during lactation (poor views and
very uncomfortable).
