Thank you for my chuckle of the day.  That does seem to describe it, doesn't
it?

The question becomes, do the inhaled anesthetics cross over into breastmilk,
and does it have an effect on the baby if he drinks the breastmilk which will
go into his GI tract?

How long are the metabolites of general anesthesia present in the milk?  Has
anyone ever tested milk for nitrous oxide or fluothane or whatever?

My husband-the-pharmacist is of the studied opinion that once the mother is
awake & aware, the anesthetic is gone too.  How long can it last in the
system since they have to keep giving it to her during surgery?
