I think it was Mary Broadfoot who mentioned babies becoming familiar with
varying flavors in amniotic fluid and breastmilk, thus becoming
acculturated to the mother's diet.  An interesting article on this is in
Pediatrics, Vol. 93, No. 2, February 1994, pp. 271-7.  It's titled, "Infant
Dietary Experience and Acceptance of Solid Foods," and is by Susan Sullivan
and Leann Birch.
