Carolyn asked several times for information on pierced nipples. I have no
experience with this but remembered reading something in the Journal of
Human Lactation (JHL) awhile back. In the Sept/94 issue Nikki Lee wrote
asking for information on this. Then in the June/95 issue she wrote again
with some information she had received from Virgina Thorley Phillips in
Australia. This information was originally "reported in Partyline, the
newsletter for Queensland... Nursing Mothers of Astralia breastfeeding
counselors."

"The mother had one of two nipple rings removed after experiencing latch-on
problems. She then breastfed exclusively on the side without the nipple
ring. At the site o fone of the pierced holes, she reported the existence of
a 'painless, large milk blister.' Additionally, she noted that hardened
yellow colostrum appeared on the non-feeding breast which gradually resolved
on its own after several weeks."
