Sue Jacoby wrote about the lack of attachment parenting including breastfeeding being a contributor to juvenile crime. I would like to add that I agree wholeheartedly with this. I am glad there are others in the world who see it this way. I think it applies to all parents, not just teen mums - although they would be particularly vulnerable. My family are sick of me carrying on about this every time there is something on TV about what to do about juvenile crime. It is a similar situation in Australia as US, maybe not quite so bad yet. By "attachment parenting" I mean breastfeeding and meeting the needs of babies without resort to "controlled crying" type methods, lots of separation, etc - ie the sort of parenting styles promoted by LLL and NMAA.
