One thing I want to say about med student teaching is that they are likely to get a chart or lecture on the comparison of abm to human milk. I think comparing them ie in the form of Na levels, iron levels, protein, fat, etc is really dangerous...I recall when I was a resident learning this for like the 3rd time, thinking hmm...abm is actually better because it has more iron, more protein, etc. They need to understand that absorption of the 2 entities are so much different, that comparisons are meaningless. I also strongly agree with Dr. Hale's comments, they love case reports, and working thru actual cases. By doing this, they will understand when to refer to lactation consultants.-Anne EGlash
