Just thought I'd try to briefly clear this up....So many have asked about "Jane's" situation. She isn't interested in pumping. She's a student, gone from 11am to 6pm two days a week. She doesn't want to pump at all while she's away. She's been pumping in the morning to get milk for baby while she's gone. Her milk supply has dropped already; not having any engorgement while she's gone. Her baby has always been small, but my bringing up the 25th percentile issue was, I'm afraid baby might be dropping weight. Especially if she's getting bottles of juice or water when she's truly hungry. Jane's aversion to ABM is that she never wanted to use ABM. I had explained to her that ABM is definitely preferable to cow's milk right now, but she has problems with the IDEA of using ABM. The doctor who recommended cow's milk has apparently convinced her that it would be all right, despite the info I've given her. (Her husband has said,"We'll do what the doctor said.") I really hoped that if she didn't listen to me, she would listen to what you all had to say. I do thank all of you for taking the time to help. I'm concerned for the baby, but also about this issue. Are there other mothers out there who are using cow's milk instead of ABM because of PRIDE?! This is a real concern. And why anyone would think that ABM is shameful, but cow's milk is okay, is beyond me. Thanks again. I am really hoping this baby will be okay. JoAnn LLL Leader in OKC ([log in to unmask])
